Okay, so this one isn't exactly a "Kick Off Classic" caliber matchup, but for these struggling programs tonight's game may be each one's big chance to win all season. The Buffalo Bulls are ranked #117 out of 119 Division I football programs by College Football News. Their opponent tonight holds the dubious distinction of landing at the #119 spot. Thus, the high hopes on both sides for a possible 1-0 start to the new season.
Speaking of new, both squads have new coaches. Former Nebraska quarterback Turnell Gill, who teamed up with Mike Rozier and Irving Fryar, to form a feared trio in their heyday, takes over for the Bulls. Al Golden is the new guy at Temple. Golden has the unenviable task of trying to turn around a program that hasn't played in a bowl game since before Ronald Reagan became President. Golden was only 10 years old when the Owls appeared in the Garden State Bowl in 1979. His Masters Degree in Sports Psychology may come in very handy as he sits with himself each week why in the world he ever took this job.
What to watch for: Actualy do yourself a favor and don't watch. This should prove to be an ugly game between two ugly squads.
